CANADA'S NATIONAL BALLET SCHOOL | Sharing dance - BACK/NEXT

Pixel Palette was honoured when Mavis Staines (Artistic Director, CEO) of Canada's National Ballet school, commissioned us to make a film on their esteemed and historic institution. The goal was to have a film that made Ballet accessible. Its main purpose was to have this classic dance form loose its elitism and to share the joy of dance across demographics.

As filmmakers, our challenge was to thread together an emotional story attaching the various levels the school connects within our society. This ranged from outreach dance programs in local schools, to Dancing with Parkinsons program with research students from University of Toronto, Canada; From budding classical dancers to collaborating with professional street dancers into forming routines that are classic yet contemporary.

We worked closely with their amazing team led by John Dalrymple (Director, Strategic Initiatives) & Joanna Gertler (Director, Marketing & Communications) to bring Mavis's vision come to life.
